Changing the way the world views ALS
H.A.R.K. was founded by Donna Dourney York in memory of her father, Charles W. Dourney, a lifelong athlete, coach, and father of seven, who courageously battled Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, ALS, or “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”, until his death in November 2009, and who was affectionately known as “Hark” by his wife Ann.
Resources for ALS patients and their families have been scarce, until now. Hark is dedicated to providing ALS patients and their families with all that they need to battle this disease.
The first step to becoming an organization dedicated to patients and their families is to raise awareness of this disease and its devastating effects. Our first effort to increase awareness is Hark's Hope on the Horizon documentary, which will shine a light on the disease and show the devastating effects it has on patients and their families. Fundraising efforts are well under way to edit and distribute the film and, in turn, generate the additional support needed to assist families in need.
